About Us

Dr. Y.S.R. National Institute of Tourism and Hospitality Management began academic operations in October 2004 and formally inaugurated by the INC President Mrs. Sonia Gandhi on 16th March 2005. It was established under the provisions of Andhra Pradesh Societies Registration Act - 2001, with its campus located on a 30 acre verdant expanse in serene natural aesthetic settings interspersed with spots of rocky terrain and the undulating lake waters in the frontage abutting the main building. It is located in the Business and Education hub of Hyderabad at Gachibowli with a built-up area of about 2 lakh square feet in multiple blocks.

Institute Management

Chairman & Director General
Ms. Chandana Khan joined Indian Administrative Service in 1979 and has worked in several capacities in the state of Andhra Pradesh. She had worked as collector in Kadappa District. She was also the Director – “Woman, Child and Disability Welfare”. She is Secretary to “Road and Building Department” also the Principal Secretary of “Tourism, Culture, Youth and Sports” and Commissioner of Enquiries under GAD. Presently she is working as Principal Secretary (PE & SSA) and Secretary (Tourism) Full Addl. Charge, Govt. of Andhra Pradesh. She is known for her iron will and astute administration. She can make impossible, possible. She is double faceted dynamite, an artist on one hand and an administrator on the other. She has a creative artistic temperament and has created an aesthetic world around her. She has a unique way of expressing herself in colors. Though she was born in Bengal, her identity is more profound in Andhra Pradesh. She has been staying on this Telugu land for 30 years now serving Telugu people in various ways and forms. A few minutes with her is worthwhile. She completed her M. Phil in English literature from Jadavpur University, Kolkatta and has also done an M.A in gender development from University of East Anglia, Norwich. Her areas of interest are painting & creative writing. She has participated in solo and group exhibitions of paintings in India and abroad. She has published 4 collections of poems & 3 collections of short stories in Bengali.
Dr. P. Narayana Reddy, Director, Dr.YSR NITHM was serving at School of Management Studies, CBIT as professor and Head for 15 years. Prior to that he worked as Reader in Commerce in the faculty of Commerce and Management, Goa University for about 9 years. He graduated from Sri. Venkateswara University Tirupati in 1977 and did his Masters in Commerce in 1979.He was conferred Doctor of Philosophy in Marketing Management in 1986 by Sri. Krishnadevaraya University, Anantapur. As an academician, he has published 10 books including Marketing Research (Excel publications, New Delhi), Entrepreneurship Text and Cases (Cengage Learning, New Delhi), Research Methodology and Statistical Tools (Excel publications, New Delhi). He has more than 45 Research papers and 55 popular articles to his credit. He completed 4 research projects sponsored by UGC and ICSSR New Delhi. He guided 6 Ph.Ds students and 7 M. Phil students and 9 more students are pursuing their research on various current topics leading to Ph.Ds. He was the organizing committee member appointed by the Ministry of culture and Youth affairs, Govt. of India to celebrate Republic fifty. He attended more than 25 National and International seminars and symposiums and presented papers related to the Education, General Management, and entrepreneurship. He also chaired more than 15 Technical sessions in seminars organized by various Universities and Institutions. Presently, he is Executive Committee member, Association of Indian Management Schools. He is editing a quarterly Journal EB Journal of management and Research.

Associate Professor(Hospitality)

Work Experience with a blend of Industry and Academia consisting of 3 years from Hotel Industry from Viceroy presently Marriott at Hyderabad. Pursued teaching/academics for the past 13 years. Teaching and Training students of NITHM since inception for MBA and BBA. A Hotel Management Graduate from Mangalore University , Raju also holds Masters in Arts from Public Personnel Management, Tourism Management and also MPhil in Tourism Management. Hospitality Experience led to teaching Rooms Division, Food and Beverage Management, Revenue Management and ICT for Tourism and Hospitality. Raju has the zeal for teaching and training because it gives him the privilege to train a new breed of Tourism and Hospitality professionals and entrepreneurs.

Faculty (Food Production)

A Hotel Management graduate from culinary academy of india. He holds masters in Arts in Public personnel management. Mr .Reddy started his career at Hotel Taj Banjara in cold kitchen for 2 yrs(2002-2004).STCW 95, Has a vast experience in bulk cooking, chinese, cold kitchen. and worked in various colleges ,has got more than 10 yrs experience in teaching. worked as lecturer at IHM shakti college ,hyderabad (2007-2012).

Assistant Professor

An academician by heart and soul. Graduate from KLE, institute Bangalore in BHM. Worked in Front office department at Hotel Windsor Manor, Bangalore and THE PARK, Bangalore for a period of 5 years. Has a keen inclination towards teaching and believes in upgrading pedagogy on a continuous basis. Holds a post graduation in Tourism and Mphil in Tourism management.
Training and placement are the core areas of interest. A PhD scholar from JNTUH, has published 05 research papers till date and the current area of research is “SERVICES MARKETING”.

Teaching Associate (Training & Consultancy)

MBA (Tourism & Hospitality) from Dr YSR NITHM, (PGD in Tourism and Environmental Law from NLU & WWF).
Mr.Reddy got three years experience in preservation & management of Cultural Tourism projects, preparation of detailed project report (DPR), feasibility studies, planning and organizing heritage walks, cultural events and awareness campaigns with an emphasis of heritage preservation, sustainable tourism and socioeconomic development.
Mr.Reddy is experienced in Event Management by volunteering and organizing different events like UNWTO, PATA, UNESCO, Fox History Channel-INTACH and Dept. of Tourism Govt. of Andhra Pradesh etc,. Experience in planning and organizing adventure, cultural, educational and FAM tours. Mr.Reddy got academic understanding in designing, conducting training programs and teaching in heritage management, tourism and its allied subjects by working for different organizations like NITHM, HCIC, APTDC, University of Hyderabad and Little Flower Degree College, Andhra Pradesh Prisons Department etc,.

He holds a Post Graduate Degree in Business Administration with Specialization in Human Resources and also a Masters In Public Administration .In addition , Research Degree in Tourism Management (M.Phil) and a Post Graduate Diploma in Tourism Management .Presently he is a scholar and pursuing his research in the field of ‘History and Tourism’.He has a vast experience of more than 16 Years in the teaching field of Hospitality and Tourism. Earlier he has been working as Principal For about 09 years in Reputed Hotel Management colleges in Hyderabad which are under the Jurisdiction Of Osmania University.

Assistant Professor (Food Production)

Having vast experience in managing large catering operations, he is proficient in Indian, continental,Chinese cuisines and bakery & confectionery. He was qualified in in Maths, Craftsmanship course in food production and patiseerie from IHM Chennai, DHM&CT from Asan institute Chennai,Master degree in Tourism management, M.Sc in Hotel management and Mphil in Tourism Management. He has vast experience from well known establishments like Hotel Residency, WG Bay island Andaman & Nicobar islands, Valleyview, Green pavilion, Hot breads, Diet kitchen - Sri Ramachandira medical college & hospital chennai, as a Food production - Head, Lecturer at Annai fathima group of institutions, Madurai, Sri Kaliswari college, Sivakasi and Snehacharya institute of management & technology.

Associate Professor (General Management)

Anand Bethapudi is working as an Associate Professor and Head of the Department(General Management). Anand has submitted thesis to the Rayalaseema University for the award of Ph.D. Post Graduation is Master of Business Administration from Andhra University. Qualified UGC-NET/JRF in Management. Graduation is Bachelor of Engineering(Electronics and Communications Engineering) from Andhra University. Anand is pursuing M.Tech Anand is Editorial Member of International Open Access Journal Anand has presented and published number of Research papers in Marketing, HRM, General Management and Entrepreneurship. Anand has published Research papers in Referred Journals. Anand conducting research in Tourism, Hospitality and Banking Industries. Anand has participated and presented Research papers in National and International Conferences, including Penang, Malaysia organized by University Sains Malaysia in collaboration with Prince of Songkla University, Thailand. His Research papers are included in several books. He was selected for Japanese Fellowship and Rajiv Gandhi Fellowship by Ministry of Human Resource Development,Govt.of India. Anand has Coordinated several National Seminars. Qualified Mathematical Olympiad. School education from the merit school A.P.Residential School, Puligadda, Krishna Dt. A.P. Expert Faculty in General Management, Marketing Management and Human Resource Management. Previously worked with the Prestigious Institutions Vidya Vikas Institute of Technology, Hyderabad, Hi-Tech college of Engineering and Technology,Gandipet , Assistant Professor and Head of the Department in Christu Jayanthi Jubilee P.G.College, Guntur. Anand has close association with many Universities and Management Institutes in India and abroad.

Assistant Professor (General Management)

Dr. D. Maheshwara Reddy has masters in Management and Commerce. He did M.Phil and Ph.D in Public Sector Banking. He also did B.Ed.. He had qualified UGC NET both in Commerce as well as Management. He had 16 years of teaching experience and 5 years of research experience. He authored a book on Regional Rural Banking. To his credit he has 22 research publications in national and international institutions of repute. He has attended various national seminars/workshops and presented papers. His areas of interest are finance and accounting. Apart from that the other areas of research interest are finance, banking and general management. He started his career as an assistant professor. He taught for both PG and UG subjects in Management and Commerce. He held the responsibility of Managing Editor for WIM Journal of Management for 3 years at ITM Business School – Warangal.


Computer Lab   
100 computers are installed in the computer lab both for office and student use. They are all interconnected in LAN and connected to internet with 1:1 leased lines with dedicated 2Mbps speeds.
Food Poduction Laboratories   
In our endeavour to impart hands-on skills and experience as part and parcel of their coursework more effectively and efficaciously to our students the food production Lab is equipped with state of the art large, mechanical and food processing equipments and support infrastructure like utensils etc. . It’s an invaluable resource for the students, both at the vocational level and degree level. . This enhances a unique learning experience as our students can apply directly the theory acquired in the lecture halls in actual work environment.
During the practical sessions, emphasis is placed on “learning by doing” with special attention given to the practical side of commercial food preparation.Hospitality Students gain knowledge of culinary vocabulary, ingredients, equipment use and the principles & techniques of food preparation, skills and knowledge to develop a strong foundation in culinary arts. Students are exposed to cooking and service techniques for poultry, seafood cookery and fabrication, meat, rice, potatoes, vegetables, pasta, soups, stocks, sauces, gravies, snacks, salads, colds cuts and other appetizers, breakfast items, baked goods such as pies, tarts, breads, cake making and decoration and so much more. We focus on foods and cooking styles of many nations as well as menu production reflecting on nations that have impacted international cuisines. We strive to instil marketable skills to our students by demonstrating food preparation skills and teamwork to manage an environment conducive to modern quality food production and service operations.
This ensures that graduates of our programmes have not only the fundamental skills but also the moral authority to deliver on the job. As part of our incremental quality improvement efforts, we have installed imported equipments in the lab such as Espresso machines, Electric Ovens, Chillers, Freezers, Salamanders, Microwaves, Bain Maries, Planetary Cake Mixers, Peeling Machines, Meat Mincers, Burger Makers, Air Cleaning Hoods, Grills, Deep fat Fryers, Juice Dispensers, Multi-purpose Gas cookers, Sinks, stainless steel worktables, small kitchen utensils and much more.
The Practical Kitchen rooms are divided into Basic and Advanced kitchen training centres provided with the latest kitchen equipments made of stainless steel and other accessories to meet the day to day requirements of the Institute.

Nithm Libraray   
Our Library has a rich and copious collection of books of over 6000 titles, 70 national / international journals, magazines and newspapers of didactic and academic interest as well as of general learning importance and awareness to support the teaching and research activities. The well stocked and spacious library hall covering about 5000 sq. ft. of floor space and with 300 seating capacity and an inventory of books arranged in seemly order settings in the shelf alignment is located on the main structure's first floor overlooking the breezy and excogitative lakewaters and facilitates calm, cosy and unperturbed reading atmosphere with reclining relief in chairs. Surely a placid place a booklover would like his time to be spent most at. LibraryTo make the best out of it for the teachers, students and scholars the timings have been kept convenient. It is open throughout the year except on National Holidays and functions from 9AM to 8PM on all working days save on Sundays and other holidays when the time slot is 10:00 AM to 4:00 PM

The dining hall where 150 persons can be fed at a time is attached to the hostel blocks and managed by a student-staff mess committee. The committee formulates the menu table at fortnightly gaps to the satisfaction of the palatable preferences of mess members in general and relish the dish you wish. The average diurnal bill costs nearly Rs 100 per person (approx) for the three time fooding per day which is inclusive of evening snacks.
